CHALLENGES AND PERSPECTIVES OF CRITICAL MEDIA PEDAGOGY
Main Article Content
Abstract
The essence of our society and its core values are indicated by the relationship between the media and education. Media often dominate our free time and largely shape our views of the world and social behaviour. The abundance of media content and information offered by the internet leads to the impossibility of finding the necessary content and valid information. Usage of the information and communication potential of the media for learning, education, and culture is analyzed in the paper. The integration of media competencies into the school system and bringing the school closer to the everyday life of young people and new ways of communication, learning, and sociability should be a task of critical media pedagogy. Despite all the challenges, the authors conclude that it is possible to use the media and information revolution for humanitarian and educational purposes. It is necessary to develop information and media literacy, understand the media world, and responsibly create media content for those purposes.
