TARGET SITUATION ANALYSIS IN THE SCOPE OF WRITING SKILL IN ELT AT IT DEPARTMENTS IN SERBIA

Abstract

The ability to successfully manage all business written communication in English as well as other tasks in English that require the written form at future jobs, has become an imperative for future IT graduates in Serbia. Needs analysis, in this particular case target situation analysis, that was conducted at eight IT departments, had the aim of compiling a list of target needs situations concerning the tasks that require written form as a useful tool for future IT graduates. The opinions of professors, assistants and students were documented and later compared to the written activites found in the curricula of English courses at the mentioned IT departments. The obtained results can be used for a redefinition and refinement of existing curricula of ESP courses at IT departments in Serbia.
